Blacklich FAQ

  • Monster XYZ is missing. How do I add it?
The monsters included in Blacklich are from freely available, open sources. To add a monster from your Monster Manual, like a Beholder, for example, simply do the following: Create a user. Login to that user. Either: click on the "Create" top menu item link, or search for a monster as a template and in the monster view click on edit. Save the monster you created or adjusted. There are many online sources from which you can copy and paste monsters stats for publications that you own. For example https://5etools.com/bestiary.html
  • How can I add attack buttons and spell reference links?
To add attack buttons edit an "Action" entry. The language for the action entry should follow standard D&D descriptive grammer. For example: Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 7 (1d8 + 3) slashing damage This will create the correct attack button. For spell references, simply add the name of the spell and if it is available from open sources it will automatically be linked to its reference.
  • How can I edit an existing monster?
Login. Search for a monster. Click "Edit". Save the monster with a name that doesn't conflict with one of the open source monsters.
  • How do I share my entries with others?
When viewing a monster that you created or edited you will see a "Share" switch in the upper right hand corner. Simply click on the switch to share. Copy the address of the link that appears next to the switch.
  • How can I copy someone else’s entry?
If someone shares a Blacklich link with you, you can save it to your own list by simply clicking "Edit" and saving it to your account. You will have to be logged in to save.
  • I forgot my password. How can I reset it?
The "Forget password" form still needs to be implemented. If you are in need of password recovery, enter in contact with me at alex@blacklich.com.
  • I wish there was feature XYZ. How can I request that?
Excellent! If you have ideas, bug reports, etc., I'd love to hear from you at alex@blacklich.com. Thanks!
